"The act of collecting is about looking, studying, sorting, concentrating, weighing and making decisions. Collecting is, in many ways, a form of editing. There is a lot of art produced and exhibited that to collect, you need to choose and sift through the wealth of visual-arts.

One of the best ways to begin is by asking precise questions. Is there a medium - photography, drawing, sculpture or painting - to which you are particularly drawn? Then study your tastes - modern, contemporary, realism, etc. Now look, look and look some more. How does the work make you feel? While exploring, trust and have faith in your own artistic likes and dislikes, then ask questions. Investigate the difference between mediums and always consider composition, execution and quality of the process."
